Next stop, Gothenburg: Creating the good workplace

Going to work at Mouritsen A/S should be a great experience. That's why we recently took a few days out of the diary to go on a staff trip to Gothenburg, where new, shared memories were created.

At Mouritsen A/S, our values are an important focal point in everyday life, and they permeate the way we work. One of our core values is ‘a good workplace’, which is why our staff association recently organised a staff trip to Gothenburg for all employees.

It was a very enjoyable and rewarding three-day trip from Thursday to Sunday, with plenty of opportunities to get to know each other even better and strengthen social cohesion across departments and job functions.

“As owners, we want to acknowledge that our employees put their heart and soul into creating a good workplace every day. Therefore, we donated an amount to our unique staff association, which in the best democratic way decided that the money should go towards this trip,” explains Claus Andersen, CEO of Mouritsen A/S.

Building a common culture

The trip began on Thursday with a bus trip to Kiel, from where we travelled by ferry to Gothenburg with an overnight stay on board. On Friday morning, we arrived in Gothenburg fresh and well-rested - ready to explore the Swedish city.

The staff trip included several enjoyable joint activities that had been carefully planned in advance, and there was also time to explore the city on our own. We visited the World of Volvo museum, sailed around Gothenburg's canals and stopped by a sky bar to enjoy good food and drinks overlooking the city and the archipelago.

On Sunday we took the ferry back, this time to Frederikshavn, from where we travelled by bus the last stretch to our hometown of Vejle.

Adds a special dimension

“Being together for three days like this gives you something different socially, and it's great to feel that we as colleagues prioritise the time for it, as people choose to spend their weekend on it. It says a lot about the culture, and it creates some shared memories and something we can talk about between colleagues during the working day,” says Mette Løgstrup, Business Supporter at Mouritsen and active in the staff association.

Claus Andersen adds:

“It was a fantastic experience to participate as a participant and also experience how we all had a good time and how relationships were both created and strengthened. I have no doubt that such shared experiences benefit us all in a hectic everyday life where we everyone has to perform.”
